On this day in 1970, UNITED ARTISTS released THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. Directed and written by BILLY WILDER, this movie never really got the love it deserved. WILDER’S script was funny but scattered and because of studio imposed cuts the film was pretty much dismissed. The great cast included ROBERT STEPHENS, COLIN BLAKELY, GENEVIEVE PAGE and CHRISTOPHER LEE. Worth searching out on DVD.private_life_of_sherlock_holmes2
