Jim Rogatis calls his new coffee table book The Velvet Underground: An Illustrated History of a Walk on the Wild Side, a labor of love.

The journalist and author didn’t get a hefty payday for his work, but was still satisfied by all the details presented on the page because he was a fan first of the influential rock band.

Rogatis points out that there are elements never known before about the group that will come as a surprise to even the most rabid of rock history buffs.
