Director Spike Jonze wasn’t looking to make a kiddy movie when he signed onto Where the Wild Things Are.  He had a much larger idea in mind.

Good thing the author of the Caldecott-winning book, Maurice Sendak, had wider goals himself and Jonze instinctively knew what Sendak really intended.
