On this day in 1918, actress Rita Hayworth is born in Brooklyn, New York. The daughter of two dancers, Hayworth (born Margarita Carmen Dolores Cansino) began performing with her parents at age 12 and made her film debut at age 16. She became a star in 1941, after starring with Fred Astaire in You’ll Never Get Rich and You Were Never Lovelier. Hayworth was married five times; her husbands included Orson Welles and playboy Aly Khan. She died of Alzheimer’s disease in 1987. She was 68 years old.
