On this day in 1962, COLUMBIA PICTURES released REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT. Directed by RALPH NELSON from a story and screenplay by ROD SERLING, this film was a product of the ‘golden age of television’ and dazzled audiences. You’d be hard pressed to find a film of it’s time this forceful and with a cast to equal ANTHONY QUINN, JACKIE GLEASON, MICKEY ROONEY, JULIE HARRIS, JACK DEMPSEY, RORY CALHOUN and MUHAMMAD ALI (billed as CASSIUS CLAY). A great movie.
