On this day in 1979, COLUMBIA PICTURES released WHEN A STRANGER CALLS. Directed by FRED WALTON and developed from a short film he and STEVE FEKE did, this was one of the scariest films of its decade. Based on the urban legend about a babysitter being terrorized by a psychopath, the film starred CAROL KANE, CHARLES DURNING, COLLEEN DEWHURST and RON O’NEAL. This film is worth seeing just for the terrifying first thirty minutes.
