It was yet another good night for CBS.  The net was again top dog in the ratings race.

How’d they do it?  Hit shows like Survivor: Samoa, CSI and The Mentalist handed them top honors in every hour of the night.

At 8:00 p.m. CBS‘ Survivor: Samoa landed 11.7 million viewers overall, while Fox hovered at 9.9 mil for its hit show, BonesABC’s freshman sci-fi, thriller, Flashforward averaged 9 million and NBC’s comedy block pairing of Community and Parks and Recreation gathered up 5.1 and 4.9 million respectively.  CW has sunken its teeth into a genuine hit with their series The Vampire Diaries.  The show averaged a healthy 3.5 million viewers.

During the 9:00 p.m. hour, the CBS procedural CSI showed significant numbers, 14.6 mil, while ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy continues to match those ratings with only a small dip to 13.7 million viewers.  NBC’s double dose of The Office proved to be a smart call with 9.1 mil overall.  Fox’s sci-fi hit, Fringe did a modest 6 million viewers while CW’s sci-fi companion show, Supernatual did OK considering the competition with an average of 2.4 million.

At 10:00 p.m. CBS’s The Mentalist grabbed 14.1 million eyes, ABC’s Private Practice did a solid 9.5 million and NBC’s alternative to scripted TV, The Jay Leno Show, averaged 4.8 million viewers.
