After an inauspicious debut in the celebrated flop “Glitter,” Mariah Carey has slowly been building credibility in the acting world, thanks to well-received roles in movies like “Wisegirls” and “Tennessee.” Her latest movie, “Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire,” opened last weekend at the New York Film Festival to good reviews (including a strong Oscar buzz for its star, Mo’Nique). Carey told us how she was convinced by director Lee Daniels to take on a role that’s far less glamorous than the image she’s used to portraying in her music videos.
