On this day in 1949, WALT DISNEY PICTURES released THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD. Based (ever so loosely) on THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW and THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, the two shorts were cobbled together to make one feature-length movie. And, while purists might fault the story adaptations, the animation and voice talent are totally first rate. Featured in the casts are: BING CROSBY, BASIL RATHBONE, ERIC BLORE, J. PAT O’MALLEY and musical group THE RHYTHMAIRES.
