Derek Luke learned plenty about the life of an Emergency Medical Technician thanks to the realistic sequences in his new show Trauma.

Luke says the cast has been asked to get awfully close to the action and that’s given him more than his fair share of injuries; from burns to scrapes plus cuts and bruises.

Still, he’s giving it his all and now has enormous respect for real EMTs who witness tragedies daily.

Luke actually spent time on a few ride alongs with the techs and was shocked by not only the physical drain it has on the professionals, but the emotional situations they deal with as well - which he saw firsthand.
