We interrupted Danny DeVito’s breakfast, well…more like slowed his eating down… to discover why he chose It’s Always Sunny in Phiadelphia for his return to TV acting.

DeVito knows a good gig when he’s offered one and he’s sure that the series is destined to become a classic, not quite like I Love Lucy, but the group is always plotting. And he also understands that the show gives him a whole new generation of fans.

Co-star, Rob McElhenney, despite DeVito’s tiny food fight, gets the whole Lucy/Ethel similarities. But as you can see by the video, McElhenney is hopelessly confused by the Madonna reference.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia airs tonight on FX.
