On this day in 1953, MGM released TORCH SONG starring JOAN CRAWFORD, MICHAEL WILDING and GIG YOUNG. As if the ridiculous plot involving a Broadway diva’s romance with her blind pianist weren’t enough, audiences were treated to the sight of CRAWFORD lip-syncing a warmed-over tune while in blackface. Yikes!
