It was a neck-and-neck ratings race between ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and the Fox drama House on Monday night, but the celebrity dance competition squeaked out the win with an average 17-plus million viewers to Dr. House’s 16.5 mil.

It was a great night for in general for scripted television, too.  Fans tuned in by the millions to CBS for the net’s comedy block beginning with How I Met Your Mother and stayed through CSI Miami averaging a healthy 13.7-million for the procedural show.

Castle on ABC got a boost from the DWTS lead-in grabbing a whopping 9.4 million sets of eyes.

Looks like Monday night isn’t going to be the boon NBC needed for The Jay Leno Show.  The variety program managed 5.6 million viewers (a far cry from the 18-million watching last Monday).
