On this day in 1984, COLUMBIA PICTURES released A SOLDIER’S STORY. Directed by NORMAN JEWISON from the award winning play by CHARLES FULLER this story of a military murder investigation during World War II had a racial bent previously unseen. The cast featured DENZEL WASHINGTON, ROBERT TOWNSEND, PATTI LaBELLE, WINGS HOWSER, DAVID ALLEN GRIER, HENRY ROLLINS JR. and ADOLPH CEASAR. Strong performances.
