On this day in 1949, popular radio show Father Knows Best debuts on NBC. The sitcom, about the day-to-day antics of an all-American family named the Hendersons, ran on radio until 1953. It moved to TV–and the family’s name changed to Anderson–in 1954 and it ran until 1963.
