On this day in 1960, PARAMOUNT PICTURES released G.I. BLUES. Directed by NORMAN TAUROG this film was invented to curb the public’s fascination with ELVIS’ career change from rock n’ roller to U. S. soldier. A huge success, it was shot under the title CAFE EUROPA, by which the film is still known in parts of Europe. Besides ELVIS, the film also starred JULIET PROWSE, ROBERT IVERS, JAMES DOUGLAS and LETICIA ROMAN.
