On this day in 1953, M-G-M released THE AFFAIRS OF DOBIE GILLIS. Directed by DON WEIS from the story and screenplay by MAX SCHULMAN, this ‘youth’ musical comedy later went on to be a popular TV show (but without the music and a different cast). The film’s interesting cast list included DEBBIE REYNOLDS, BOBBY VAN, BOB FOSSE, HANS CONREID, KATHLEEN FREEMAN and LURENE TUTTLE. Worth searching out. DEBBIE REYNOLDS’ only black and white musical.
