On this day in 1958, UNITED ARTISTS released the big screen adaptation of ERSKINE CALDWELL’S bestselling novel GOD’S LITTLE ACRE. Directed by ANTHONY MANN, this tawdry potboiler set in the gothic South was controversial for its time. Heading up the cast were ROBERT RYAN, ALDO RAY, BUDDY HACKETT, JACK LORD, VIC MORROW, MICHAEL LANDON, TINA LOUISEĀ and FAY SPAIN. And if thatĀ cast list doesn’t say it all, we give up.
