On this day in 1980, UNIVERSAL PICTURES released XANADU…and the 80’s were officially born. Directed by ROBERT GREENWALD and starring OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN, GENE KELLY and MICHAEL BECK, this delightfully horrible musical is a hard-core ‘bad movie we love’.

A teriffic send-up/homage was staged off-Broadway in 2007 and continues to tour to packed houses to this day.
