On this day in 1957, COLUMBIA PICTURES released 3:10 TO YUMA, a brilliant Western/Character Study directed by the hugely underrated DELMER DAVES. A teriffic story of white hats and black hats (with a handful of grey hats in between) the film starred GLENN FORD, VAN HEFLEN, FELICIA FARR, HENRY JONES, RICHARD JAECKEL and FORD RAINEY. Not in the least diminished by the 2008 remake with RUSSELL CROWE and CHRISTIAN BALE. In fact, they should be watched in tandem.
