On this day in 1974, THE H.B. HALICKI MERCANTILE COMPANY released GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS. Directed by H.B. HALICKI  (who also wrote the script and took top billing) who defied convention by releasing his own film about insurance investigators turned car thieves. Bad writing and acting were forgiven by audiences because of the great stunts and the film went on to earn cult status.
