On this day in 1978, UNIVERSAL PICTURES released SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND. Despite an impressive cast list that included THE BEE GEES, STEVE MARTIN, PETER FRAMPTON and DONALD PLESENCE this overblown musical mess couldn’t be saved. Not even the rights to THE BEATLES’ classic album helped. A real disaster.
