On this day in 1982, WARNER BROTHERS released the big screen adaptation of JOHN IRVING’S best selling novel, THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP.  Directed by GEORGE ROY HILL, this off-beat comedy/drama was one of the real treats of the year. The brilliant cast included ROBIN WILLIAMS, GLENN CLOSE, MARY BETH HURT, JOHN LITHGOW, HUME CRONYN and JESSICA TANDY.
