On this day in 1945, M-G-M released ANCHORS AWEIGH. Directed by GEORGE SIDNEY, this story of a couple of sailors on liberty in Los Angeles proved to be a great backdrop for a  huge Hollywood musical. The all-star cast was top-lined by FRANK SINATRA, GENE KELLY and KATHRYN GRAYSON.
