On this day in 1965 a new film genre was born with BEACH PARTY starring former Mouseketeer ANNETTE FUNICELLO and teen idol FRANKIE AVALON.

Capitolizing on the then popular ’surfing’ craze, BEACH PARTY took theaters by storm and spawned several successful sequels.
