On this day in 1979, 20th CENTURY FOX released BREAKING AWAY. Directed by PETER YATES from a script by STEVE TESICH, this coming-of-age dramedy was one of the most charming films of the 70’s. DENNIS CHRISTOPHER, DENNIS QUAID, DANIEL STERN and JACKIE EARLE HALEY are a delightful combo of small-town misfits making their ways from high school to college.  A really wonderful film.
