On this day in 1958, actor Kevin Bacon is born in Philadelphia. Bacon, the son of a schoolteacher and a city planner, began studying theater in New York as a teenager and made his movie debut in National Lampoon’s Animal House in 1978. He found a wide popular audience with Footloose in 1984. Married to actress Kyra Sedgwick, his many other films include A Few Good Men (1992), Apollo 13 (1995), Murder in the First (1996), and Mystic River (2003).
