This has been a seriously bizarre night.We just returned home from opening night of ‘FARRAGUT NORTH’ (CHRIS NOTH, CHRIS PINE, OLIVIA THRILBY) at the Geffen Playhouse….right across the street from UCLA hospital….At 10:45 p.m. in the usually dead village and it’s a freaking carnival.There are food carts, t-shirts for sale, many hundreds of people, candles, costumes, choppers and satellite trucks for as far as you can see….Usually, the news exaggerates stuff like this but this was really strange…..

And, here’s a surreal touch. In this generic staging area, foreign correspondants from different countries took turns doing stand-ups while the group of ‘mourners’ in the background stayed in place for each.
