On this day in 1967,  the Beatles record “All You Need Is Love” in front of an international television audience. An estimated 400 million people watched the broadcast. The Beatles invited friends Mick Jagger, Keith Richard, and other artists to sing backup. The six-minute version recorded on the TV show, however, was cut down to four minutes for its release as a single. The song became the group’s 14th chart topper.
