On this day in 1966, WARNER BROTHERS PICTURES released the controversial big screen adaptation of EDWARD ALBEE’s award winning play, WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? Adding fuel to the already considerable fire, director MIKE NICHOLS cast the tempestuous real-life husband and wife team of RICHARD BURTON and ELIZABETH TAYLOR in the leads. GEORGE SEGAL and SANDY DENNIS filled the supporting roles and the end result was one of the best films made in the sixties.
