We might have finally reached the end of the online battle between Danny Gokey’s and Adam Lambert’s fans.
For nearly a week now, supporters of the “American Idol” finalists have been feuding over a handful of Facebook pictures (and comments) posted by Gokey’s cousin, a statement Gokey made during a Comcast live chat, and a prank Gokey played on Lambert during a dinner party in Los Angeles. There have been accusations of homophobia and jealousy and of “Glamberts” not being able to take a joke.
It got to be too much, and over the weekend, the two men at the center of this storm — Gokey and Lambert — decided it was time to weigh in. Both took to their Twitter accounts Sunday morning in an attempt to quash any rumors of beef.
“Hey u all, there has never been any drama between [Adam Lambert],” Gokey wrote. “We have always fully respected each other. Relax!!”
“Danny Gokey and I have not ever and do not have any drama,” Lambert added. “We are friends. Chill out with all the gossip kiddies!”
Despite the Tweets, as of Monday morning (June 22), fans of both “Idol” contestants don’t show any sign of letting up. Comments continue to pile up on both stories MTV News has written about the incident, with most now hypothesizing that 19 Entertainment — the company that produces “Idol” and many of the contestants’ post-show careers — forced one or both of them into brokering a truce.

Correction please. The group who twittered on gokey are not all Adam fans. Half of them are non-AI fans but is part of livejournal community. They even said that they really dont’ like any of the AI contestants but is protesting because of the way Adam was treated. It is just wrong to treat adam that way. If it was a joke - it was a tasteless joke. Anyway, this is my last post of the matter. It doesn’t change how i feel about Danny coz i still don’t like him. This is my last post on this matter.
Really love Adam. Go Glambert!!

I didn’t realize there were such Danny haters. Leave him alone. He and Adam are getting on fine (or at least they’re trying) and these ridiculous back and forth hits are really getting juvenile. Just cool it and enjoy the music and the show if you’re going.

Anyone who suggests that ridiculing someone, demeaning someone and laughing at someone because of their sexual orientation can be described as a “prank” is as insensitive as the offender. That being said, if someone has antiquated religious beliefs that hold that homosexuality of bisexuality is sinful they are entitled to those beliefs. What Danny did was to twist that belief into justifying cruel and offensive behavior. Was he motivated by jealously, just plain mean, bigoted, or stupid, who knows? American Idol power brokers want us to overlook Danny’s behavior, overlook the voting fiasco in Arkansas and be nice. As a big fan of Adam Lambert I will support his endeavors, but as a thinking human being, I will not be muzzled!
