On this day in 1979, AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL PICTURES released MAD MAX, an apocalyptic vision of the future and social decay set in Austrailia. Directed by GEORGE MILLER, the film introduced America to a young Austrailian actor named MEL GIBSON. Considered a classic to this day.
