Susan Boyle lost because she was not the biggest tallent in the show END OF. The British public may have also considered the fact that she is not emotionally capable of handling the pressure. Which has been proved since the show ended. Where as Adam is the biggest talent ever on American Idol, that is why the result was so widely considered wrong and why it will spell the death of the show.

adam will certainly have a much more successful career than kris. im sorry, but kris would be like ruben- so easily forgettable
poor adam lost bcos of the AT&T scandal. which was utterly unfair to adam.
adam is my FAVE idol of all 8 seasons!

MarathonH - interesting points. I agree, as an American it is very difficult to be impressed with Diversity since we regularly see far more talented dance crews on TV in the States. But I have noticed that a lot of people have mistake the American Idol vote for representing what American thinks. Only about 0.7% of Americans vote in an American Idol final. In all the traditional consumer polls, Adam Lambert wins by a significant margin. IMO Adam will be very big in the US, and in many other countries. And since the big money in the music industry is generated from concerts vs. recordings, he will set AI earnings records. Kris Allen will be moderately successful and do well in the US AC market based on the exposure and fanbase he built during American Idol. If he turns out to be a great songwriter (and there is no evidence of this yet), then Kris could actually do very well.

Adam is not in the same category as Susan. Adam would have won in a fair vote. It was not just that AT&T giving out phones and allowing power texting and go phones with California numbers to generate votes in another time zone, it was also the instruction for cheating that went out to three Arkansas universities that came from Kris’s Face Book. Kris is not entirely innocent in the activities in Arkansas. He knew about “Operation Ding Dong” and talked to people at the site. There were Arkansas students that bragged about jamming Adams phone lines as well. It was in the discretion of American Idol to allow the Arkansas votes to stand and they allowed a cheater to win.
Adam will rise above this and be his awesome self, but Kris will never live it down.

Candace ,right on, I agree, I love Adam and see on most of his sites the international fans just loving him and very frustrated that we could not vote, but now the truth will come out in CD sales, we have also bought huge blocks of tickets to the Idol tour and everyone spent their money to see Adam, we wish it was a solo tour, but I am sure he will do that soon too. It almost make me feel uncomfortable as Adam will have all these fans there and will outshine the winner, as Kris is a really nice guy, I feel sorry for him in that regard.Adam is the Worlds Idol and will show his staying power and his star power that the winner does not have, his state may have voted 10,000 at a time but will one person buy 10000 CD?? a year from now all you will read about is Adam

Susan Boyle lost for totally different reasons to Adam. I won’t repeat all the reasons why Adam didn’t win the title as they’ve all been said already. I’m English and on the final night of Britain’s Got Talent it seemed very likely that Diversity would win. You have to see it from a British persepctive to understand. We don’t see dance acts like that in the U.K. We don’t have chearleader groups or r’n b dance acts, and you certainly don’t see anything like that on British TV. In fact dance is not well supported in the U.K. My partner and I watched the final and we were wowed by Diversity. For an English person they were totally new, fresh, original, creative, intelligent, subtley funny, entertaining and massively talented. They are a group of young people with no professional training, doing ordinary jobs and then managed to put on this slick exciting act. But I appreciate that if you are watching in the States that what you saw was not new or exciting as you’ve got plenty of this in the States…it’s just on the night as British we were like…wow! That’s amazing! For most people in the U.K who know anything about singing they know susan boyle is not an outstanding talent, there are many more impressive singers in that genre in the U.K. It’s her story, her appearance and the unlikeliness of someone who looks like her and has come from her background to have a decent voice at all, that has got her the media attention. But on the night British people voted for what they saw as superior talent within the context of what we normally get to see in the U.K. If American idol had been on in the U.K Adam lambert would have undoubtedly won the title for the same reasons. Talent shines through, and the other isuses touted by the meida don’t count when it comes to voting.

Susan and Adam lost because of one reason - unfair voting procedures. When one person can vote 10,000 times and another can not even get through to vote ONCE, that is not a majority win.

How can the two contestants who have caused a buzz of the size that Adam and Susan have, not just in their countries but around the world, on Youtube and Google as just two examples, be considered to have minority fan bases?

“passionate minority fanbases”?

It is the passionate minority fanbases - such as Arkansas - that vote their fingers off but then are not big enough to support the contestant’s career. Let’s face it, just because you voted 10,000 times doesn’t mean you are going to buy more than one copy of a CD and that is when the truth about numbers comes out.

Adam has more fans around the country (hence having won the majority of the votes outside of Arkansas) and around the world than Kris could ever dream of.
