On this day in 1982, COLUMBIA PICTURES released ANNIE, the big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical based on the popular comic strip of the same name. Directed by JOHN HOUSTON, the film starred ALBERT FINNEY, CAROL BURNETT, ANN REINKING, TIM CURRY, BERNADETTE PETERS and AILEEN QUINN. Solid performances but really bad direction kept it from being a classic.
