On this day in 1955, UNITED ARTISTS released the pulp classic KISS ME DEADLY. Directed by ROBERT ALDRICH (WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE) from a script by author MICKEY SPILLANE, RALPH MEEKER didn’t live long enough to realize what a cult figure he became with his portrayal of MIKE HAMMER, the iconic P.I. Even if you hate the movie, you’ve gotta love the brief appearance by CLORIS LEACHMAN.
