On this day in 1987, actress Rita Hayworth died of Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 68. Hayworth, born Margarita Carmen Dolores Cansino to two dancers in Brooklyn, began performing with her parents at age 12 and made her film debut at age 16. She became a star in 1941, after starring with Fred Astaire in You’ll Never Get Rich and You Were Never Lovelier. Hayworth was married five times–her husbands included Orson Welles and playboy Aly Khan.
