We attended the West Coast premier of DIRTY DANCING: THE CLASSIC STORY ON STAGE Sunday evening at The Pantages Theater in Hollywood and can testify that it’s pretty impressive. Beautifully mounted with amazing set design, the show is a faithful adaptation of the hugely popular 1987 film starring PATRICK SWAYZE and JENNIFER GREY.
Set in an upstate New York resort during the sixties, it tells the story of two kids from different worlds who discover love over the course of a Summer (and over the course of an overwhelming 35 hit songs!).
AMANDA LEIGH COBB and JOSEF BROWN lead the huge cast as the star-crossed lovers but Joffrey Ballet member BRITTA LAZENGA steals every scene she’s in.
The musical numbers are many and huge with the gigantic finale being a real stunner.
