After several years of development, THE FIGHTER is finally seeing the light of day, thanks to Mark Wahlberg and latest addition Christian Bale. The picture is a biopic of famed pugilist Mickey Ward (Wahlberg, who has been diligently training for the role) and his manager/half brother Dicky Eklund (Bale). THE WRESTLER filmmaker Darren Aronofsky was originally attached to direct, with Matt Damon set to play Ecklund. Brad Pitt stepped in when Damon dropped out, but Pitt and Aronofsky eventually left the project. Now Wahlberg, who has been part of the project from the get-go, is reteaming with his THREE KINGS and I HEART HUCKABEES director David O.Russell for THE FIGHTER, and he talks about the project.
