On this day in 1937, UNITED ARTISTS released the oft revisited classic A STAR IS BORN. Itself a remake of 1932’s WHAT PRICE HOLLYWOOD?, the film tells of a waitress whose dreams of Hollywood stardom come true with the help of an alcoholic star on his way down. This time around, A STAR IS BORN was directed by WILLIAM WELLMAN and starred JANET GAYNOR and FREDRIC MARCH.
