Jamie Foxx stars in “The Soloist,” the true story of a cello prodigy, Nathaniel Ayers, who wound up homeless in downtown Los Angeles. Ayers’ life was spotlighted by L.A. Times columnist Steve Lopez (played in the movie by Robert Downey Jr.), and their friendship forms the basis for the film.
