On this day in 1937, COLUMBIA PICTURES released LOST HORIZON. Directed by GEORGE CUKOR from the novel by JAMES HILTON, the reset the bar for tear-jerking romance (and twist endings). It featured an all-star cast that included RONALD COLEMAN, JANE WYATT, EDWARD EVERETT HORTON and THOMAS MITCHELL. A little creaky now but still much better than the disasterous musical remake done decades later.
