On this day in 1969, UNIVERSAL PICTURES released the big screen version of the smash Broadway musical SWEET CHARITY. Directed by BOB FOSSE and starring SHIRLEY MacLAINE, CHITA RIVERA, PAULA KELLY and SAMMY DAVIS JR., it would appear the film would be a shoe-in at the box-office but it was just the opposite. The film is hugely dated but worth watching for it’s camp value.
