MARLEY & ME (20th Century Fox  PG  $29.98) OWEN WILSON and JENNIFER ANISTON as a couple who adopt an absolutly loathsome puppy and for some ungodly reason learn to love it. I’m told that a lot of people really enjoyed this film…I don’t know any of those people.

SEVEN POUNDS (Columbia Pictures  PG-13  $28.98) WILL SMITH turns in a credible performance in this odd little drama that lacks any other credibility whatsoever. He’s a man with a secret plan to benefit seven strangers. I can’t say much else for fear of ’spoilage’ (even though it becomes pretty obvious what’s up about a third of the way in). You should probably think of this one as a rental.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE (Fox Searchlight  R  $29.98) While i wouldn’t go so far as to call this a ‘feel-good movie’, this winner of last year’s Best Picture Oscar is certainly an enjoyable experience. Director DANNY BOYLE tells a great story of hope and survival despite being a little on the sentimental side. If you haven’t already taken this one in, it’s a ‘must-see’.
