On this day in 1978, UNITED ARTISTS PICTURES released the charming French comedy, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Based on the play by JEAN POIRET, this story of a homosexual couple went on to be remade in English. There was also a hugely successful Broadway musical based on the source material. It’s popularity served to put another face on gay living.
