On this day in 1970, NATIONAL GENERAL PICTURES released THE BOYS IN THE BAND, the ground-breaking gay film that opened closet doors for generations. Directed by WILLIAM FRIEDKIN from a screenplay by MART CROWLEY (based on his Broadway hit) this film version of the play features the original Broadway cast repeating their roles. This film changed the lives of a whole generation.
