On this day in 1971, UNIVERSAL PICTURES released THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, one of the best science-fiction films of the era. Directed by ROBERT WISE and based on the novel by MICHAEL CRICHTON this ‘alien virus’ story starred ARTHUR HILL, DAVID WAYNE, KATE REID and PAULA KELLY. This one still holds up as a decent thriller (despite one of the hokiest trailers ever).
