On this day in 1959, radio and film comedian Lou Costello, of the renowned comedy duo Abbott and Costello, died just three days shy of his 53rd birthday. Abbott and Costello started out as vaudeville performers and were first heard on the radio in February 1938 on The Kate Smith Hour. They quickly rose to stardom with their clever, fast-paced prattle.
