During JOHNNY CARSON’S reign on The Tonight Show, JOAN RIVERS was such a fixture on the program that she actually became a permanent guest host. Well, until she alienated him by doing the short-lived The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers.  In recent years, she’s worked the awards red-carpet with daughter MELISSA  all the while retaining her caustic and opinionated sense of humor.
