On this day in 1963, M-G-M released the epic western classic HOW THE WEST WAS WON. With segments directed by JOHN FORD, HENRY HATHAWAY, RICHARD THORPE and GEORGE MARSHALL this was the event film of the year. The huge cast included: JOHN WAYNE, CARROLL BAKER, RICHARD WIDMARK, HENRY FONDA, CAROLYN JONES, GREGORY PECK and LEE J. COBB (to name just a few).
