On this day in 1972, Allied Artists released CABARET, a musical based on the hit Broadway play based on the CHRISTOPHER ISHERWOOD memoir, I AM A CAMERA. Directed by BOB FOSSE and starring LIZA MINELLI, MICHAEL YORK, JOEL GREY and MARISA BERENSON the film went on to win eight Oscars and catapult LIZA to mega stardom.
